The Huntley High School Wind Ensemble is the top performing band ensemble in the program. This is an audition-based ensemble where students rehearse and perform the most challenging levels of wind band repertoire. Due to the demand for the preparation needed for the music in this ensemble, it is highly encouraged for students to participate in Private Lessons. The Wind Ensemble performs at all Band Concerts at Huntley High School and additional Concert Band Festivals throughout the state of Illinois. The band has consistently performed at the Chicagoland Invitational Concert Band Festival, the Illinois State University Concert Band Festival, and the prestigious Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival. Members of the Wind Ensemble are eligible to audition for the Illinois Music Educators Association instrumental ensembles and the McHenry County Honor Band. Students are also encouraged to participate in IHSA Solo and Ensemble.
Wind Ensemble
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is the second level band in the Huntley High School Band Program. Students will rehearse and perform wind band repertoire at the appropriate high school level for the ensemble. The symphonic band is an audition based ensemble. Students in the Symphonic Band are encouraged to take private lessons.Students are also encouraged to participate in IHSA Solo and Ensemble.
Concert Band
The Concert Band is the entry level ensemble in the Huntley High School Band Program. Freshmen will enroll into Concert Band and then will audition into either Symphonic Band or Wind Ensemble for the following year. Students in the Concert Band will rehearse and perform wind band repertoire at the appropriate high school level for the ensemble. Students in the Concert Band are encouraged to take private lessons. Students are also encouraged to participate in IHSA Solo and Ensemble.
Percussion Ensemble
The Percussion Ensemble is composed of Percussion Students in Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. The students placed in their band ensemble will rehearse and perform the wind band repertoire but will also work on percussion ensemble music. Students in percussion ensemble are highly encouraged to take private lessons. Members of the Wind Ensemble in Percussion Ensemble are eligible to audition for the Illinois Music Educators Association instrumental ensembles as well as the McHenry County Honor Band. Students are also encouraged to participate in IHSA Solo and Ensemble.
